It depends on how you travel. Here’s a quick overview:

  • By Plane: The fastest option, taking about 4–8 hours, including travel to and from the airports. A direct flight from Frankfurt to Podgorica (Montenegro) takes less than 2 hours. A flight from Berlin to Tirana (Albania) with a short stopover can take 4–6 hours. Major German cities like Munich, Hamburg, or Düsseldorf offer convenient connections to Balkan destinations.

  • By Car: A road trip takes about 16–22 hours, depending on where you start and which route you choose. For example, the drive from Munich to Mostar (Bosnia) takes around 12–14 hours. From Berlin to Kotor (Montenegro), it’s about 18–20 hours. Perfect if you want to stop along the way and explore! Looking for inspiration? • By Train and Bus: A real adventure, taking 18–24 hours and requiring several transfers. For example, from Hamburg to Sarajevo (Bosnia), you could take a train to Vienna, transfer to a train to Zagreb, and then take a bus to Sarajevo. Another route could be from Cologne to Tirana (Albania): first by train to Munich, then by bus to Belgrade, and finally to Tirana. It takes longer, but it’s often more scenic!

Flying is the fastest and easiest way, but if you have the time, driving gives you the freedom to discover exciting places along the way.
